Wine of the Month
CHARDONNAY 2008 (No Oak)
Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in Southern New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast.
Our no-oak version is yellow-white in color and features aromas of lime-citrus and green apples. It is light-bodied with no drying tannins due to the absence of oak. There is crisp, coastal acidity with flavors of citrus and a hint of toast from the grape itself. These flavors remain through the medium, tangy finish.
In summary, the wine is a perfect illustration of cool climate Chardonnay, made to compliment lighter, regional dishes. It pairs well with a wide variety of cheeses such as brie, chevre, feta, goat and ricotta. Other pairings include pork loin, veal, salmon, scallops and shrimp. Recommended seasonings and sauces are basil, coconut milk, pesto, rosemary, sesame and tarragon.
