COCK OF THE WALK RED
Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in Southern New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast. This crimson colored wine features prominent black pepper, cinnamon and earthy aromas. The acidity is low and the tannins are moderate and drying upon the wine’s release. The wine is medium bodied with flavors of tea, tobacco, pepper, cinnamon and black licorice. The drying tannins remain through the medium finish, balanced by the pepper and tea. Cheese pairings include blue, havarti, limberger, Monterey jack and semi-soft versions of sheep’s milk. Lighter fare include herbed bread, tarragon chicken salad, tunafish and bouillabaisse. The wine will compliment grilled red meats, lamb, duck and ham. Seasonings that match the wine’s heartiness are dill and mustard, parsley, basil, rosemary, sage and vinaigrette.
