RESERVE CHARDONNAY 2009
Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in Southern New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast. This limited production wine is straw in color, with prominent aromas from both the chardonnay and the oak treatment. The use of older (more subtle) oak results in low tannins and allows the grape’s natural acidity to remain prominent. The wine is medium-bodied with flavors of fresh bread, vanilla and white grapefruit. The moderately long finish shows the balance between the toast and the fruit character. The rich and yet crisp nature of this wine lends itself to many cheeses, including baby swiss, cheddar, colby, dry jack, gouda, smoked mozzarella and stilton. Similarly, it pairs well with rich and spicy dishes, such as duck, goose, grilled poultry, lobster, oysters, crab cakes and grilled vegetables. It compliments citrus seasonings, as well as cream or butter sauces.
