Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast.
Our most powerful dessert wine is made from New England’s
signature red hybrid, Chancellor. It has beautiful mahogany and
tawny colors and aromas of dried fruits, plum and smoked
almonds. The acidity is low, but sufficient to balance the velvety
tannins that accompany the rich, full body. The sweet flavors
are the same as the aromas, while the alcohol is kept in check throughout the extraordinarily long finish.
Suggested cheeses are emmentaler, aged cheddar, gorgonzola,
Aged gouda, maytag blue, parmesan, stilton and swiss. Foie gras, dried fruit and nuts are a perfect compliment to the wine’s
richness and smokey character. Desserts such as berry or plum
tarts, fruit pies, black forest cake, flowerless chocolate, vanilla
