SIRIUS NV - SWEET HARVEST WINE
Sakonnet Vineyards has pioneered the production of fine wines in Southern New England for thirty-five years. All of our estate wines reflect the favorable maritime climate found along Rhode Island’s beautiful coast.
As with the unique label used for our signature Rhode Island Red, we called upon students from the Rhode Island School of Design(RISD) to design an unusual label. They cleverly revealed the abbreviation for our state.
This wine is made from the ripest Vidal Blanc grapes, hand-picked at the end of our harvest. The wine has a yellow-gold color, characteristic of dessert wines. It possesses intense peach and apricot aromas and is full bodied. The richness is balanced by medium acidity, which prevents the wine from being cloying or syrupy. The flavors of honey, peach and apricot linger through the long finish.
In order to properly pair a dessert wine with dessert, it is essential that the dish tastes as sweet(or sweeter) than the wine. Matching the fruit flavors of the dish and the wine is also suggested. Several examples are fruit desserts that have honey, peach or apricot in them, tropical flavored chocolate, coconut cream pie and bananas foster. In addition to desserts, the Sirius
compliments cheeses such as aged gouda, mascarpone and Roquefort.
